課程概述 |
This course is intended to serve as a core course in microeconomic theory for Ph.D. students in the department of agricultural economics. Students will learn to be familiar with the concepts of optimization with/without constraints, the envelope theorem, the different approaches to comparative statics analysis. |

課程目標 |
Objectives
This course follows materials covered in Varian (1992). Due to its clarity and block building perspectives, the book has been used by most graduate programs in economics and applied economics for almost two decades. Since this is only a one-semester course, we will only focus on the first ten chapters in the book – technology, producers’ behavior, consumers’ behavior, and consumers’ welfare measurement. Chapter outline of major contents to be covered in the class will be handed out before the start of each new chapter.
